Buddha Purnima Crafts Workshop

May 18, 2024

Budha Purnima, also known as Vesak or Buddha Jayanti is a significant Buddhist festival that commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Gautama Buddha. The full moon day is very auspicious for Buddhists because these three major events (Birth, Enlightenment, and Death) of Gautam Buddha’s life took place on this day. The day is celebrated with various activities, including prayer, meditation, chanting of Buddhist scriptures, and acts of charity. The celebration is particularly prominent in countries with large Buddhist populations, such as India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Myanmar.

Buddha’s life offers numerous valuable lessons such as:-

Compassion and Kindness: Practice compassion towards all living beings. Act of kindness and empathy can lead to a more fulfilling and peaceful life.

Mindfulness: Live in the present moment. Being mindful of your thought, action, and surroundings can lead to greater clarity and peace.

Detachment: Let go of material possessions and desires.

Non-Violence: Embrace non-violence in thoughts, words, and actions.

Inner Peace: True peace comes from within. Meditation and self-discipline can help you find inner peace amidst external chaos.

These lessons from Buddha’s life provide a framework for leading a meaningful life. With this beautiful thought, “PRAGRATH” under “GYATAVYA BHARAT” initiative organizes a meaningful workshop for students on the day of “Buddha Purnima”, where they learn about the life and teachings of Gautam Buddha that includes how to make lotus flower from paper (symbolizing purity and enlightenment).Students learn about how being mindful can help them in school, at home, and with friends.
